OUR MISSION
OUR MISSION

Each engine is designed to work in strictly defined temperature ranges (thus the tolerance for thermostat opening temperature shall fall within ±1.5°C to ±3.0°C range).

In order to limit emissions of harmful chemical compounds and to reduce fuel consumption as much as possible while maintaining maximum efficiency of the engine, it is necessary to ensure that the engine reaches its proper operating temperature as fast as possible and maintains it regardless of operating conditions.

Additionally, in winter, appropriate engine temperature will ensure good heating of the vehicle cabin.

In order to meet these requirements and to prevent damage to the engine, the cooling system shall be equipped with a functional, high-quality thermostat that will operate regardless of the season of the year.

Since 1980 most engine manufacturers specify requirements for thermostat operating temperature ranges. These data is usually contained in operating instructions or in service manuals. In case of any doubts, please refer to these documents to check for the correct thermostat opening temperature.

In our thermostats we are using a working medium with high thermal conductivity, which combined with appropriate design of springs and other working elements of the valve, results with rapid reactions to engine temperatures changes (such as those that may be encountered when the vehicle is climbing hills).

In engines, where venting of the cooling system is difficult or where there is no venting in another part of the system, we have been applying venting valves that eliminate leaks when the thermostatic valve is closed, during the engine start. In certain engine designs this solution reduces the time of engine heating up to its optimum temperature.

In Stahlter thermostats we have used materials that are corrosion resistant, not only in ambient conditions, but also in many unfavourable conditions that occur inside a working engine (high temperatures, chemical agents).

In order to reduce variation of the engine temperature caused by a surge of cold fluid from the radiator when thermostat opens, using computer techniques we have designed an optimum valve geometry.

Conical springs used in our products allow for large movements of the bottom valve, which eliminates situations when thermostat opening is blocked. This increases the durability and reliability of the valve and ensures its large stroke and thus better flow of the cooling medium at high engine temperatures.
